Welcome to Bumblebee Meadow...
Meet Bobby Bee...
Based in beautiful Bumblebee Meadow, ‘Believe in Yourself Bobby Bee,’ sends children the message that if they listen and try, they WILL learn and achieve.
Bobby’s mantra is “I can’t do it YET but….I believe I will learn.”
Just imagine if your child begins whispering this to themselves, instead of the shorter, unhelpful – ‘I can’t do it!’
Why is Self Belief Important?
Does your child often say that they cannot do things? Do they view challenges as impossible for them and say things like ‘I’ll never be able to do this.’
If your child often seems to lack interest in learning new things, it may instead be that they lack self-belief and do not see themselves as capable. The two things are often linked.
Your child may be thinking inside, ‘I will never be able to do this,’ but what comes out of their mouths is ‘This is boring, this is stupid.’
Nurturing self belief, gives children the confidence to tackle new challenges and give themselves time to learn.
Change Their Inner Voice Through Storytelling
That inner voice can be so powerful in all of us at times. ‘ Believe in Yourself, Bobby Bee’ helps children develop hope that their efforts will enable them to achieve and also helps them see that learning is about effort too!
Maybe your child avoids anything challenging because they find it difficult to have faith in themselves. Bobby Bee can help your children change this mindset. He develops in children a hopeful, helpful attitude which allows them to believe in themselves and see things as possible.
How Does Bobby Teach Self Belif?
At the start of the story, Bobby lacks self-belief and does not think he is capable of learning the special bee dance. This makes him appear lazy and unmotivated, however at the root of it all is a lack of self-confidence.
Throughout the story, Bobby realises that not getting something straight away is just part of the process of learning. He learns that if he keeps listening and practising, he can learn anything!
Children’s motivation to learn is often linked to their self-belief. When they develop Bobby’s hopeful attitude to learning new things, they can participate with enthusiasm and enjoy themselves!
